- Made some quick corrections today since I had some
spare time. We have come to the conclusion that
Morgana The Witch does
not have any death spells. In fact, she comes
with no new spells at all! What a pisser.
It seems that her death spells were taken away with
the latest version of MoM (1.31). This greatly reduces
her value, but she still has some potential.
I also removed the Master of Magic 2 link from my
list of cool MoM-related links. It seems this page
has gone under and they have given up on the
attempt to revise the game. Oh well...

- Sorry about the long delay, but I finally got some
work done. I have completed
Ravashack The Necromancer
and I am currently working on Roland and Torin. Ravashack
is a real bad-ass so be sure to check him out. I've
also updated some of the Questions & Answers so be
sure to take a look at them as well.
Has anybody heard anything about Master of Orion II yet?
Its been delayed for the past 6 months and I am eagerly
awaiting its arrival. I've been reading the reviews and
screen shots and it looks AWESOME! Supposedly it combines
the best of Master of Magic and Civilization into a
sci-fi/space RPG game. I was a big fan of the original
Master of Orion so I can't wait to see this version.
Hopefully my DX2/66 will be capable of running it!
09/15/96
- Added Mortu The Black Knight
to the High-Level Champions section. Only 3 more to go!
Check this guy out. He is a 5-star Champion and he
is worth every star!
I'm still in the middle of testing for my Purple Belt,
but I might have time during the middle of this
week to begin on Ravashack. We'll see.
09/08/96
- Added Elana The Priestess
to the High-Level Champions section. Only 4 more to go!
09/06/96
- Added Sir Harold The Knight
and Warrax The Chaos Warrior to
the Mid-Level Champions section. Be sure to check out
Warrax since he is one of the most valuable heroes in the
entire game.
Thankfully, this completes the section of Mid-Level
Champions. All that are left now are the High-level
Champions, and there are only 5 of them. However,
these will take the longest to write up since they
are so valuable. Heck, the description of Mystic X
prints out 4 pages! So you can expect my description
of Mortu or Torin to be very long. Keep an eye out for
them.
09/05/96
- Added Mystic X The Unknown
to the Mid-Level Champions section. This guy is about awesome.
Check him out.
I've gotten some positive feedback on the voting ballot,
so I will let you know how that comes along. Also,
I am testing next week for my Purple Belt in Kenpo,
so I might not get anything else done for a while.
Please be patient during this time. Later...
09/03/96
- Added Death Stryke The
Swordsman to the Mid-Level Champions section.
09/02/96
- Well, I managed to get Aerie
The Illusionist and Allora
The Elven Archer completed over the holiday weekend.
There's only 8 more Champions left and the Hero Compendium
will be complete! That's the good news.
The bad news is that I went out and bought TEKKEN 2 for
my Sony Playstation and have been going without sleep
ever since. (What?!? I'm out of Coca-Cola? Quick,
brew some coffee!!!!)
However, I am going to try to continue my 1-hero-a-night
routine so I can quickly wrap this up. As far as the
Creating Items section, I have no idea what I am going to
do with that. It is an extremely important part of the
game, so I don't want to leave it out. But I don't know
if I will have the time to make it into a really valuable
section. We'll see...
One last note: I removed the "Book of Icons" from the
Hero Compendium. I was thinking of creating a section
which listed each Attribute and Icon that heroes can
have and explain each of them, but why bother? The
random picks table explains
most of them, and users can simply click on any of the
icons in the game and it will tell them what it means.
08/28/96
- Whoo-hooo! [my best Homer Simpson imitation :) ]
All of the heroes in the Book of Heroes are complete!
Now all thats left are the champions, and there are only
10 of them (thank god...) This is fun, but very time
consuming. However, there is a 4-day weekend coming
up for me. If I push myself I might get them all
completed by next week. Whoo-hoo! :)
I am also considering creating a voting ballot or
hero poll. Using an HTML form and a simple cgi-bin
script, I would take user's votes for the best
Low, Mid, and High-level heroes as well as
Mid and High-Level Champion. Users would
pick one hero from each category, give a
1-out-of-5 rating and possibly give some
personal comments on their picks. If this sounds
cool, let me know. I don't want to waste time
on something nobody will use.
Personally, I would like to see what you guysthink of the heroes. I might get some new ideas
on how to use them. Anyway, check back in this
weekend and see if I am making any progress.
08/21/96
- What a crappy day. My car battery died at work and
I barely made it home. Now my car won't even start. Gee,
I guess I won't be going into work tomorrow. DARN! :)
Hey, 3,714 hits since 5/3/96! Not bad. Of course
a lot of those hits are my own as I work on my page,
but I know a lot of you guys are looking at this stuff
since you complain all the time about it not being finished!
(just kidding)
I added a new link to the "Cool MoM Links" section. It's the
Master
of Magic FAQ home page. How in the hell did I
ever miss this page? It's awesome! 11 chapters crammed
full of the best tips you will ever find for playing MoM.
I found it about 3 days ago and I'm still picking up new tips
from it! Absolutely amazing. check it out!
This week I made a pledge to compete at least 1 hero
a night until the High-Level
Heroes section is complete. Tonight I'm up to
Shalla The Amazon Warrior and
there is only 3 more to go. I might try to squeeze in
Shin Bo The Ninja tonight
as well. If Shin Bo's link works when you click on it,
I guess I got it done! (I love these kind of
pre-crongratulatory assumptions) Enjoy!
08/18/96
- Man have I been busy! But I found enough time to
squeeze in the detailed descriptions for all of the
Mid-Level Heroes and to
create the Random Skill Picks Table.
Also, I corrected
Mystic X
(now a champion),
Sir Harold
The Knight (does not have first strike/armor
piercing), and
Ravashack The Necromancer
(does not have Wrack spell). Please check these out if
you get the chance and point out any spelling or
statistical errors you notice.
Thanks again for all the positive feedback. Later!
07/14/96
- After a long vacation, I finally got back to work on
this page. I am feeling the need to hurry up and finish
this thing. Not just because you write me every other day
asking me to finish it, but because Master of Orion II is
due out in September and you can bet your ass I will have
a page for it as well. Supposedly it combines the best
of Master of Magic© and Master of Orion© into
a new game. I can hardly wait!
Anyway, I spent today adjusting the pages to a width of
490 so most all users should be able to view and print
these pages, without having to scroll horizontally. I also
took the time to check most of my spelling and realized how
many mistakes I had made. Geez, why didn't anybody tell me?
Boy that's embarrassing. Anyway, most of the spelling mistakes
have been fixed, now all I have to worry about is the poor
grammar.
Next, I am going to do some research to validate some mistakes
pointed out to me by some users. I really appreciate it when
users do that so I can keep my page as accurate as possible.
Currently I am looking at:
If Mystic-X is a hero
or a Champion.
If Ravashack really has
the spell Wrack.
When I find out the answer to these questions, I will make the
necessary corrections.
06/29/96
- Phew! I finally got all of the stats for the
Low-Level Heroes completed.
Check it out and let me know if it does not make sense.
Basically, it lists all of the attributes for a hero, but
uses icons to represent them. The sword is attack strength,
the shield is defense, and so on... The only one most people
have trouble with is the cross hairs for the To Hit attribute.
Since these stat pages take a while to write, I'm going to give
myself a week or two to get them all completed. In case I
don't get the chance to e-mail anyone this coming week, have
a safe and happy fourth of July!
06/26/96
- OK! I have begun to add the stats for each hero to the
Hero Compendium (low-level heroes
only for now). Check it out by entering the Compendium, and
then clicking on the image of the hero you want more information
on. It provides attack / defense / resistance / hits as well
as their skills and spells if any. I also wrote a personal
opinion of the hero and give a recommendation. This is only
my opinion based on my style of play. Your style may be
different and I might totally rip on a hero which you prefer.
However, if you can convince me that a hero is more valuable
than I have rated them, I will consider changing their rating.
The key word here is "convince" not "complain". Thanks again
to everybody for the feedback and comments. I really appreciate
them.
06/24/96
- Whew! After a great effort and a great deal of sweating, I got
my orange belt, so now I can resume my construction of this page.
Ok, I have ALL (count 'em, all 35 of 'em....) of the heroes listed
in the Hero Compendium and I attempted
to associate a story with each hero. Some people think it's cool,
some think it's stupid. But I like it and that's all that matters.
I also added links to the pictures of the heroes on the main page.
Try it out by going back to the home page
and clicking on any of the heroes you see in the table.
Next on the agenda: Add the technical stats of each hero to the Hero
Compendium. These stats will tell the user the
attack/defense/resistance/hit points as well as any other information
about the hero. I will also include my personal comments on each
hero and how I have used them in particular situations. Very useful
information to help you decide on which hero to pick. I also want to
get started on the section, Creating Items
to help users make awesome weapons and such. This is going to be a
cool section of tremendously valuable information.
Lastly, I am looking for someone to help me with this site by being
an "editor" of sorts. I can write fairly well, but my grammar and
spelling leave something to be desired. I need someone to review
the text in the sections and point out any grammar or spelling
mistakes and e-mail them to me so I can correct them. Please feel
free to point out any mistakes I have made, or question something you
feel is inaccurate. I'm just writing from what I know of the game,
so it could be wrong. :)
06/10/96
- I finally got all of the heroes listed in the Book of Heroes
(see Hero Compendium), but not the
detailed info on each. I want to get all 10 of the Mid & High-Level
Champions listed first. However, I am testing for my Orange belt in
Kenpo Karate this week & weekend, so it will have to wait a little bit.
Thanks go to duncan@midwest.net, emerald@compusmart.ab.ca, and
Slacker@aol.com for giving me good feedback. I really appreciate it.
06/08/96
- Ok, now we are on a roll. The
Mid-Level Heroes section of the
Hero Compendium is up and running.
If I can stay awake long enough tonight, I might finish the
High-Level Heroes section as well. I also fixed that annoying
border problem with the images of the heroes.
06/07/96
- Whew! Doing dome major re-vamping today to clean-up the pages,
make them load faster, and fit into the screen better. Tell me if
you notice any differences, better or worse. This entire site
relies HEAVILY upon tables and HTML 2.0. I apologize if your
browser does not support tables or HTML 2.0, but you need to catch
up with the rest of the world. Also, I have reduced the color
depth of some of the smaller images to 16-colors so the will load
faster. They are so small you shouldn't notice the difference
visually, but it cut out 14,000 bytes of image data. That should
offer users a 5-8 second reduction in loading time. Every second
counts when it comes to a user's patience.
06/06/96
- Eureka! I finally got the first page of the
Hero Compendium completed! The first chapter of the Book of
Heroes, Low-level Heroes, is in draft
and looking good. Not quite as fancy as I had hoped, but
a simple design never hurts. No detailed info on the heroes yet, but
I am on a roll and intend to get a lot of work done this weekend.
06/05/96
- I finally got the Master of Magic Links
section finished. Geeezz, one of the easiest sections to complete
and I waited this long. Duuhhhh....
06/04/96
- I have begun fooling around with the Hero Compendium, still trying to
figure out how I am going to do this. Take a peek if you can
(low-level heroes only) and let
me know what you think.
06/01/96
- OK, I have finally made some progress, but not nearly as much as I
had hoped. This stuff is hard work! I finally managed to finish
the section Understanding Heroes and have
just about completed the Collecting Heroes
section. I keep wanting to refine and expand on the topics in these
sections, but I know I need to move on and complete this site.
Ok, the Collecting Heroes section WILL be
completed this week and construction begins on the
Hero Compendium as well. The Compendium
will be the most difficult section so far, and I am not exactly sure
how I am going to do it. If you happen to view the Compendium before it
is completed - and chances are, you will - please give me some feedback
so I can alter it.
